Continental Airlines
George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston Texas
Continental Airline's Air Cargo facility offers 125,000 square feet of warehouse and office space, and houses 24 loading docks and 4 tug access docks from the airside apron. The building was designed and constructed with load bearing concrete tilt-wall panels at the perimeter and interior steel framing for the roof and mezzanine. The foundation consists of a slab-on-grade with shallow spread footings at columns and continuous strip footings below the panels. There is only one row of columns between exterior walls to allow for maximum warehouse flexibility, and 12 feet deep joist girders were designed for the long span roof support.
