Continental Airlines
George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston Texas
To meet the ever changing needs of the airline industry, Continental Airlines added 7,000 square feet to their existing Flight Simulator facility. A 31 foot clear height requirement was met, and the exterior finishes were matched to the existing for a seamless renovation. The super-structure for the facility consisted of a combination of steel braced and moment frames, and was founded on shallow spread footings and continuous footings. The foundation for the Flight Simulator was a 3 feet thick pad footing, with special design considerations for the response to dynamic loading.
